Mövenpick Hotel Beirut is a Green Globe certified hotel

For a number of years now, we have been implementing solid sustainability practices in our company. We are very proud of the fact that this has also resulted in Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts becoming the most Green Globe certified hotel company in the world.

As a Green Globe certified hotel, Mövenpick Hotel Beirut is internationally recognised as a property that constantly introduces initiatives with the aim to reduce and optimise its consumption of resources. This includes, but is not limited to, employing energy efficient lighting, reducing water consumption and effectively managing waste and use of chemicals.

Our commitment to environmental awareness is part of Shine, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts’ Global Sustainability Programme. Shine aims to give back and contribute towards the prosperity of each destination where we operate. The sustainability practices we pursue revolve around three key pillars – Environment, Employer and Social Sustainability – with Education forming the common thread amongst the three.

Energy, recycling and donations

Mövenpick Beirut Hotel & Resort aims to be aligned with sustainability programmes and green thinking.

In the past year, we installed LED lights throughout the hotel to reduce energy consumption. We also work with a company called Pro Shred that collects all confidential documents and recycles them. In addition, we hosted a child with skin cancer from the “Tammana” Organisation, which supports children, to make his dream come true. We also collect bottle caps to give to the “Arc en Ciel” organisation which trades them for wheelchairs.

Every month, some of our employees donate an amount of money for the Children’s Cancer Centre and we collaborate annually with the Braveheart Organisation to participate in the annual Lebanese marathon. We have also implemented a Suggestion Scheme box to encourage effective communications within the hotel.

Our Kids Club is very important. We want to instil environmental awareness in the younger generation because it is the right thing to do. We always encourage our kids to be engaged in environmental activities, such as using recycling bins, cleaning beaches, and making eco-friendly crafts.
